EPGI is recruiting for a Product Development Manager. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing automotive aftermarket team. Engine Parts Group, Inc. (the parent of Engine Pro/Engine Pro Racing brands) was founded in 1989 by independent engine parts distributors looking for a way to work cooperatively in buying and marketing. Today it functions as both a distribution network for brand name internal engine parts and as a specialty engine parts producer, marketing under the Engine Pro name. Engine Pro sells exclusively to engine builders, machine shops and jobbers.
This position will perform a wide range of functions involved with product development and management. This position is also responsible for working closely with the Shareholders of the Product and Marketing committees. This role aids in the achievement of company growth and goals through assessment of market needs and subsequent product development plans.
Candidates must have knowledge of automotive engine parts including, sourcing, cataloging, pricing systems and working knowledge of engine parts distribution and manufacturers. It is very desirable to have existing contacts with various manufacturers of engine parts and have experience in dealing with the manufacturers and trading companies in foreign countries.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
•Manage the complete product life cycle, from initial product development, product launch, product changes, and product supersession or discontinuation. • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests. • Assist in purchasing and inventory levels of Engine Pro products, coordinating inventory counts at our warehouse. • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes. • Identify product opportunities by means of OE research, competitive pricing / coverage analysis and implementing new product launches or relaunching / revising existing programs. • Research and propose new part numbers and products to expand offerings, contributing to growth targets by offering the right parts to the market. • Maintain and update all product attributes and information, including application data in our cataloging system (ACES), product attributes (PIES), images, market research and competitor information. • Help with Introduction of new products by developing time-integrated plans with Sales & Marketing • Ownership of all technical details surrounding product line, including installation instructions, technical bulletins, benchmarking vs competition. • Develop descriptions, features and benefits, training and other sales aides to help reps present products to customers, as well as our customers sell to end users. • Updating and ensuring quality of information for new product data, pricing, and manufacturer spec sheets, as well as managing our product catalogs. • Travel as needed for manufacturing plant inspections, trade shows, conventions, sales support and other. • Other tasks and duties as required.
Familiarity with MS Office suite primarily focusing on Excel - the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency with analyzing large sets of data using formulas such as VLOOKUP, logical tests and pivot tables. • Impeccable organization.

Experience: Automotive Industry: 5+ years (Preferred) Product Management: 3+ years (Preferred)
